December is finally here and the people of Samui are busy preparing for the big day... Monday 11th December will see PYD host SCL in what will be the final SSFL game of 2017. The term "last but not least" is definitely applicable here as the 4 matches of the fixture can have a major impact on the league tables. Although 1st place in the overall school league table cannot be taken away from OIS following this fixture, both teams have potential to move into second place above ISS and many positions can change in each of the division tables:
PYD- Possible Outcomes
U14 Boys - A win for PYD here will tie them in second place with SCL, with equal GD this means that they will likely take official 2nd place thus pushing SCL into 3rd. A draw will provide PYD with their 1st league point but they will remain in third place. A loss will see PYD remain in third provided that their GD does not decrease by 6 or more goals.
U14 Girls - A win here for PYD will move them from 3rd to tied 1st with ISS. To take the official 1st place they will need to increase their GD by 9 or more goals. A draw with SCL will give PYD a total of 4 points which will propel them above OIS and into 2nd place. A loss to SCL will see SCL equal PYD on points and GD will decide on their final position.
U11 Boys - Following this fixture, 2nd place is still out of reach for both PYD and SCL. A win will see PYD secure 3rd place and close the gap on 2nd. A draw will see PYD maintain 2nd place with a better GD than SCL. A loss will see PYD drop into 4th place.
U11 Girls - PYD currently sit in 3rd place, however they are tied with ISS on points and are only below them due to GD. A win here would propel then into 1st place pushing both ISS and SCL down a position. A draw would tie PYD in 1st place
SCL - Possible Outcomes
U14 Boys - SCL currently sit in 2nd place, after their recent loss to OIS,1st place is out of reach, however a win will solidify their position and close the gap on 1st. A loss to PYD will likely see SCL drop to third place based on GD. A draw will keep SCL in second place and will slightly close the gap on 1st.
U14 Girls - After suffering two losses in a row, the SCL girls will be determined to gain some points this time around. A win for the SCL girls will tie them with PYD and OIS in 2nd, unfortunately they will need to score a lot of goals to improve their position on GD. A draw will help the SCL girls to gain some momentum and close the gap on the other teams. A loss will see SCL maintain 4th position.
U11 Boys - Both sides have 0 points in this division so far. A win from SCL will push them into 3rd place. A draw will also give them 1 point, however as PYD have a better GD they will remain in 4th place. A loss will see PYD move ahead of SCL and leave them in 4th position.
U11 Girls - A win here for the SCL girls will see them increase their point count and solidify their first place position. This win would make it impossible for any team to overtake them after only one game. A loss to PYD will see them drop down to 2nd position where they will be 2 points behind 1st place. A draw will see SCL maintain 1st place and increase the lead by 1 point.
What ever the results come the 11th December, we are sure to be in for yet another great display of skill and sportsmanship in what has been a great first term of fixtures in the SSFL.
